What's your guess? Take the poll!

Four more days 'til we find out the sexes of these babies. Our hunches change all the time and we have no preference. I don't think I've ever guessed a baby's sex correctly. I was so sure that Tommy was going to be a girl. Last weekend, I had a vivid dream that I was carrying two boys. Uncle Juez, who claims a perfect guessing record for Golon babies, thinks it's two boys. What do you think?

Bear Footage

Yesterday Tommy learned to climb into his crib. He's not climbing out yet, but it's only a matter of time.

He's slowly starting to talk, but most of what he says is discernible only to his parents.

Here he is saying "cheese" followed by "tickle tickle tickle"

An attempt at "lasagna"

A few animal noises. His cow is usually much better. He's just really excited to have just climbed into the crib.

Tommy and a Lady Friend

Fun Defined

After two and half months of consistent good health, Tommy has come down with a bug. Booooo. We're homebound and we're stir crazy, but we're still trying to party. This is the "push your socks around in a Pampers box then sit in said box and dance" game. Good times. Note the hair.

The Haircut

Instead of paying $27 to get Tommy's hair cut at one of those specialty kiddy places, I opted for a highly recommended mom and pop barber shop this time around. You can't beat five bucks for a haircut right? Right. So I've not seen this child so hysterical since they drew blood from him in the hospital. At one point I heard myself demanding that the frightened 20 year old kid who hardly spoke English "just hold his head down and do it real quick". It was at this moment that I snapped out of it and just gave in to the screaming boy. I paid the bill, tipped the poor barber, and walked out of there with my head down and a son who looks like Lloyd from Dumb and Dumber.

Christmas 2009

You know you need to update your blog when your readers gently offer you posting suggestions ("Now that would make a good post Erin!") or lodge an unapologetic complaint that you haven't updated in a month like WTF (Thanks Aunt Cof. Love ya! Mean it!). I've been horrible with the blog updates because I still feel pretty terrible. I've forgotten six birthdays in the past two months and flat out refused to send Christmas cards this year (sorry GoGo). Perhaps I'm anemic. Or my thyroid is off. Or I'm pregnant with twins. Who knows. I'm looking forward to that second trimester energy burst that is supposedly right around the corner. EEYORE!!! Despite my exhaustion and nausea, Christmas 2009 was dynamite!

Tommy and I flew into Cleveland the week before Christmas. I basically lay in bed for five days while Nana and Aunt Emily took care of Tommy. Oh man that was awesome. Pat drove in the Tuesday before Christmas and we had a great time frolicking in suburbia, doing fake home searches, fantasizing about what we could get for our dollar in Cleveland. Christmas Eve was spent partying with the Kilbanes where Tommy was, of course, a hit. Christmas morning was a picture perfect explosion of family, holiday music, toddler toys, electronics, and delicious food. Nana and Grandad then hosted a Christmas sit down dinner for 43 of our closest relatives. I'm not joking about "closest relatives". It only includes one set of grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and great grandbabies. There are 43 of us on just my mother's side of the family. One thing I learned about Tommy is that the kid likes action. He loves people. He draws his energy from parties and crowds. The more commotion, the better. He was in heaven.

On Christmas evening, we headed to Papa and Grammy GoGo's house where Tommy spent quality time with his cousin Josie, Aunt Cof, and Uncle Chris. Unfortunately, Grammy GoGo fell ill with the flu so we didn't get a whole lot of time with her. She did, however, spoil these kids ROTTEN. Papa represented and ran himself ragged chasing after the rugrats. Naturally, my camera ran out of batteries, so I have no pictures of The Bear and The Chop together. Papa likely got some good shots, so I'll have to post a part deux. I always take my camera along with the best of intentions, but never really take a lot of great pictures. Here's what I got.

Fist visit with Santa. Tommy was, in a word, unimpressed.

Look at that pretty tree! Ooooooo.

What He Does When He's Not Climbing

If you can't understand what he's saying, it's "What's that?" We spend most of the day answering this question for Tommy. I've also noticed that he's taken some liberties with the phrase by using it to communicate pretty much everything, "What's this?", "Look at that.", "I want this", "There", "More", "Hi Dad", "Yes", etc. Can we say lazy? Men.
